…In spirit at least. So, I’m lying here in my hospital room dying to go for a run. I’m not very athletic, but I do love to run and it’s been since my injury in December that I last enjoyed pounding the pavement around my neighborhood. Surgery behind me, I’ve got the itch…but now comes the hard part…the recovery and worst yet the waiting.
It’s a like a metaphor for my life right now. Kim and I along with some very dear friends held our Kickoff Fundraiser and Celebration last weekend. I thought my spirit was pumped up before the event…WOW…I am really ready to RUN now…in spirit at least, but alas the waiting. The Kickoff was wonderful but we have a lot of work ahead of us before our move next summer: meetings, speaking engagements, promotions, writing, etc. I’m ready to rock-n-roll but my knee says otherwise.
All of us go through these seasons of waiting. Remember Moses in the wilderness, the future King David…even the Lord Jesus, who didn’t start His ministry until His thirties. When we allow our flesh to take over, waiting can seem like absolute misery and a waste of time. However, if we allow God to invade that time, it is anything but a waste…remember “they that WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall RUN and not grow weary, they shall walk and not grow faint”-Isaiah 40:31
