Prayer Update and Praise Report

A few weeks ago I sent an email asking for your prayers regarding a major change in how our ministry in the Philippines is funded.  In case you missed it, in a nutshell, the international grant that funds are operations was discontinued and we have had to make some very painful cuts in our programs to shrink our expenses.  In the absence of other funding, Kim and I are trusting the Lord to provide through us for the ministry’s needs.  We so appreciate your prayers for this… chiefly that God would continue to grow our faith into our growing responsibilities and that we would be able trust the Lord for the things that we are incapable of doing.  Your prayers have never matter more to us than now.  I hope to send more specific prayer updates in the next few days.

But that is not what this email is about.  This is a VICTORY email!!!  

The Lord’s providence never ceases to amaze me.  In the midst of our current storm, He has come to us walking on the water, delivering such an incredible gift.  A year ago, we began asking our friends and church partners to consider one of our radio stations that operates in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental lead by a young Filipino pastor, Marlie Jainar.  The station was in need of a new transmitter in order to fulfill their licensing requirements and to reach their full potential for ministry.  So many of you responded and the needs for the transmitter have been provided in full!  For the past 2 weeks I’ve been in the US to make final arrangements with our mission, Emerge, to get the unit back to the Philippines.

On Tuesday of last week I was in Georgia at our Emerge office to complete the legal docs required to process the transmitter donation in the Philippines.  It was a full day of activity with trips to three different offices… 1) to notarize documents, 2) to have them certified by the County Clerk of Cobb County and 3) to have the certified documents authenticated by the Georgia Sec. of State in Atlanta.  PTL… all the documents were completed in a single day!

On Friday of last week the equipment arrived where I’m staying and it’s now packed for me to hand carry back to the Philippines with me tomorrow.  God is so good!

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. – Eph. 3:20-21

Like the Apostle Paul, I am overwhelmed with joy as I consider what the Lord is allowing us to be part of, and as our partners and friends who have been so faithful in praying and supporting, we share this joy with you.  When this transmitter is in place, the Edge Guihulngan broadcast will daily reach 1 million Filipinos across the Central Visayas with God’s Word and encouraging Christian music.  

Would you please join me in praying for the safe transport of this equipment to the station?  Please pray there would be nothing to impede its delivery, that it will be protected from any damage during travel and that we would have favor with Customs (or that it would be a non-issue) upon arrival in the Philippines.
